With the success we’ve seen in the tablet market it’s no surprise when a new company wants to try their hand at something new. The company is question is iRiver who are better known for their adventure into the e-reader world. However, according to a blogger in Korea iRiver may be planning to take the plunge into the Andorid tablet world with a new low-end offering called the MX100. This 7-inch slate will reportedly be equipped with the 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, Android 2.2 Froyo, and of course WiFi connectivity via 802.11b/g/n. While the specs don’t provide much competition among the current competitors it’s likely that this tablet will not target the users attracted to such devices, rather the NookColor type crowd. At this point nothing has been heard from iRiver confirming this information so it’s purely speculation.
The MX100 can be seen below, briefly, in a LG u+ commercial that aired recently.
