Nexus One Trademark rejected

Google had its request to register the Nexus One trademark reject due to the resemblance to the Nexus trademark from Integra Telecom.

Although the resemblance is clear, other similar requests have been know to be accepted, but the whole issue here is that both trademarks are used in the same business market, the telecoms.

Google can buy the trademark from Integra or it can arrange an agreement to use it without buying it. Either one of those or, a higly unlikely solution, change the name of the device.

There is one slight difference,  the existing registration is related to the oil industry so this may be enough for Google to squeeze an appeal through the system.

For now, that little “TM” above the Nexus One is an issue that Google has to solve.
