OnePlus One was first flagship smartphone from the company. It came with 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 801 chipset, and Cyanogen OS. OnePlus is always focussed on consistent Android updates, and the company had already confirmed that OnePlus one will be receiving Android Marshmallow update in Q1 2016. Now, the update has started rolling out.
Cyanogen OS 13.1, which is based on Android Marshmallow, has started rolling out beginning with the OnePlus One. Marshmallow offers a number of useful features that Cyanogen leverages, and some of them are:
Doze
Doze increases the battery life by putting the device into hibernation mode when the device is not in active use. When in Doze mode, the device will limit CPU and network intensive tasks to conserve battery life. You can now forget to charge your phone and still have juice left for the next day!
Permissions control + Privacy Guard
Marshmallow brings new privacy features to the operating system, enabling the user to allow or disallow a particular app from accessing certain device information, such as your contacts or camera.
App Standby
App Standby determines which apps have not been used recently on your device and then puts them into sleep mode so that these apps no longer consume battery.
Quick Settings tiles
An existing popular feature of Cyanogen OS is Quick Settings tiles management, which has been added to Marshmallow in this update. This allows you to customize layout and options directly via the Quick Settings panel.
Take notes simply and intuitively anytime from anywhere in the OS
Mods extend into the Email and Phone apps with OneNote to help you get your notes down and stay organized. In the Email app, you can easily save an important email to OneNote for future reference.
Cortana mod
You can tell Cortana to “take a selfieâ€, giving you voice controlled, hands free, automatic countdown for capturing your picture. The Cortana mod has also been extended to the lock screen for easier access to all that you need from Cortana without having to unlock your device. Simply wake up your device, swipe left and use your voice to search, set reminders, get to your schedule and more with Cortana.
The Skype features you love, right in your Phone app.
Want to make a phone call or a Skype call to a friend? Do them both right from within your Phone app in Cyanogen OS 13.1 and above. All of your Skype contacts and call history are right in the dialer. Additionally, if you start with a Skype voice call, you can upgrade to a video call anytime with the tap of a button.
This update includes stability, performance and new mods for a number of Microsoft applications, notably Cortana, OneNote and Skype. Cyanogen OS 13.1 update (ZNH2KAS1KN) with mods for the OnePlus One is now gradually rolling out over-the-air (OTA). It will most probably roll out in stages, so don’t freak out if your device hasn’t received the update yet.
