Motorola Moto Z and Z Force modular smartphones announced

Motorola (now owned by Lenovo) has announced its first modular flagship phones, the  Motorola Moto Z and the Moto Z Force, at the Lenovo Tech World 2016. These smartphones are successor to the Moto X Style and the Moto X Force which had Shatterproof display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Also, these smartphone come with Moto Mods modular accessories that can be easily attached to or detached from the device.

The Moto Z comes with 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED ‘ShatterShield’ Corning Gorilla Glass display. Inside, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor with Adreno 530 GPU. The Moto Z is packed with 4GB RAM (LPDDR4), 32GB/64GB of internal storage, and up to 2TB of microSD card expansion is supported by the device.

The Moto Z has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and laser autofocus, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with wide-angle lens and an LED front flash. It runs on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). Other features include 4G LTE (Cat 9), Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz with MIMO, NFC, and USB Type-C port. It also has a 2,600 mAh battery with Turbo Charge support.

The Moto Z Force, which has been announced at the Lenovo Tech World 2016 along with Moto Z, comes with the same 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED ‘ShatterShield’ display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 GPU. There is  4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card.

It has a 21-megapixel rear-facing cameras with OIS, Laser Autofocus, ƒ/1.8 aperture, 4K video recording, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, GPS (with A-GPS and GLONASS), dual-band Wi-Fi ac/b/g/n with MIMO, NFC, front-facing loud speaker, four microphones, USB Type-C port (for headphones too), Moto Mods connector and a fingerprint sensor. The Moto Z Force has a huge 3,500 mAh battery with Turbo Charge support.

The Moto Mods accessories include Movie Projector, Battery Powerhouse, BoomBox and more. The pricing will be revealed later, and both phones will come on Verizon as Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid in September in the United States. The modular ‘Moto Mods’ accessories will also go on sale around same time.
