Otterbox cases are widely accepted to make some of the best smartphones cases available, thanks to super-protective designs which encase your device under layers of plastic and silicon. One of the main gripes about Otterbox’s cases is that there has not yet been a fully waterproof case, until now. Otterbox has announced the availability of their new Otterbox Preserver Series which promises IP-X8 waterproofing, which is certified to allow submerging at 6.6 ft for up to 30 minutes.
Much like the Defender Series (which we reviewed here), the Preserver Series also offers drop and dust-proofing which makes the Preserver a formidable and attractive case for those outdoorsy-types who need a phone capable of going through everything that they do. And how much does this level of protection cost? Unfortunately not cheap as the iPhone 5, the only version available currently, runs at MSRP $89.95 USD. While this isn’t cheap, for those who need this level of protection, a case like this can be virtually priceless.
Otterbox says that along with the iPhone 5 version which is available now, versions for the iPhone 5S, 5C and the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available in the near future. What do you think of the Otterbox Preserver Series? Let us know if this is the level of protection you want for your phone.
