Philips Teams Up with Android to Bring PMP

The Philips GoGear Connect follows Samsung’s lead and ditches their own proprietary OS and snags up the Android OS for their latest personal media player. This Philips PMP could be rivaling the Samsung YP-MB2, which looks and runs like their Galaxy S smartphone, which of course lacks the voice-call capabilities. Philips has added some pretty appealing features to their GoGear Connect PMP.

Features of the Philips GoGear Connect include:

  • 3.2-inch media player as boasting Android 2.1
  • 16GB of internal storage space
  • battery is good for 5 hours of video playback (and 25 hours of audio)
  • FM radio tuner
  • Touchpanel
  • MicroSD expansion slot
  • GPS
  • Android 2.1 Marketplace

The GoGear Connect comes in two versions, both of which are available on Argos. The GoGear Connect 16GB is available for £199.99, while the 8GB GoGear Connect is available for £179.99. I wouldn’t expect this device to hit the states, but you never know.
