HTC and Samsung are both getting better and faster at releasing updates for their devices, which is great for the owners of the devices, especially when you have a shiny new device fresh out of the gates.  Many new devices are launched with some minor issues as they rush to get products out of the door before everyone else.  One of the issues most new devices face is battery life, and many updates slowly address this as the manufacturers try to optimize their software.
I baught my wife the HTC amaze this week and when we woke up this morning, there was a system update notification. Â The HTC Amaze was at firmware version 1.36.531.5, but we know that the latest firmware version is at 1.36.531.6. Â The update is now installed!
I’ve been trying to find out what’s new in the update, but so far I can’t really see anything that has changed.  I’ve also searched the HTC and T-Mobile supports forums and couldn’t find any REAL information about the contents of the update.  I’ve read a lot of posts from people who are saying that the battery life with the new update is much better.  This would be a good thing as the battery life is currently only lasting my wife until she is driving home, and her previous myTouch 4G would last all day until we put our phones on charge at night.  10 Hours just isn’t enough for a $600 device that we rely on for our world of communications.
This brought up the same old subject of battery life in general on our Android devices. Â I’ve always said that I would be more than willing to increase the size of my phone to get a bigger battery inside so that out batteries would last an entire day. Â Now I know that some of you are going to say that with some tweaking, rooting and underclocking to name but a few methods, you’re able to make your phones last a day and some even longer, but is that the point.
If I purchase a new dual core super-phone but get told that if I use the super processing power of my phone to do even more tasks than my previous phone, I will have to suffer a short battery life and need to plug in my phone multiple times each day, then I’m not going to be happy.
So this begs the question:
Why won’t manufacturers make the phones slightly thicker, and I’m not talking much, and include a larger battery?
Let’s find out what the community thinks? Let’s find out what you think? Â Would you be willing to have a slightly larger phone with a bigger battery so you can run a whole day without the worry of your battery going dead?
