You may have seen my previous review of the NoiseHush N650 Solar Bluetooth Car Kit a few weeks ago which means you may already be familiar with NoiseHush if you follow AndroidStory.  This time they sent another cool toy to play around with in the form of a NoiseHush N700 Noise Canceling Bluetooth Headset.

What is the N700?

As you can see from the pictures above, the NoiseHush N700 is over your head headset instead of the usual inside your ear Bluetooth headset.  While it’s not the kind of accessory you’ll want to wear walknig down the street, it works great when you at home or in the office.  I’ve been testing this device in my office linked to my computer with Skype and MSN Instant Messenger and the same at home.  I’ve also had this paired with my T-Mobile myTouch 4G and made long calls using most of these systems.  Read below to find out how it worked in these environments.

 

Build Quality:

The NoiseHush N700 Noise Canceling Bluetooth Headset is very light and easy to wear, but this does not seem to make any sacrifices to the build quality of the device.  The control side of the Headset is plastic with a mat soft finish that does a good job of avoiding any marks and finger prints.  Looping inside this and across the top of your head is an adjustable metal band with a ratchet locking mechanism that allows you to adjust the Headset to fit your head size.  This is where the first issue came into play.  The ratchet system is a little too loose and the metal band can move if you play around too much.  Not that you really do play around too much once it’s positioned on your head, but if you do try to make small adjustments, it feels like it pulls out too easily.  It’s not a big issue, but it could be a little stronger.

Another issue is the USB charging port on the side of the headset.  The USB port has a rubber cover that you insert while your not using the USB port, the problem is, I have real problems getting the rubber insert in to the port in the first pace.  Once its in, it stays where it should.  Again, this is not a big issue, but could have been designed better.

Sounds Quality:

I can say that the call quality has been far superior to any in the ear headset I’ve previously used.  The volume went sufficiently loud that I could hear everyone else perfectly and from all reports that never new I was using a headset at all.  While in the ear headsets are nice and small, I always have problem with the volume level and people on the other end can always tell I’m using them.  If you want to prove me wrong then please send me a device that will do just that, but currently I’ve never found one that did.

Controls:

The headset has controls on the outside of the earpiece that allows you control the power, pairing and the volume of the headset.  In the center is a large circular switch that acts as the power control to turn the headset on and off and the main control for various other functions, including; Pairing of the device to your Bluetooth enabled phone, computer or other piece of equipment, swapping calls for call waiting, starting voice dialing and a few more.  The headset emits a rising series of beeps when it’s being turned on and a declining series of beeps when your turning off, making it easy ot perform these functions when the headset is already on your head. Once the headset is powered on and on your head, a single press of this button also activates voice dialing through your phone.

The volume control is a rocker switch that is nicely sized and easy to find, the only issue is that the volume controls are very close to center button and swivel mechanism the attaches the microphone and people with larger fingers will have some issues trying to press them.  A little more spacing away from the center would have been nice.

Overall the controls are very easy to use and I found it very easy to use and control

Battery:

Battery life is hard to say right now.  Initial impressions are that it seems to be pretty good.  I’ve had incredibly long conversations, and many of them.  Every time I’m finished I’ve always plugged it back in to the USB cable and charged them some more.  I would say that I’ve had 45 minute long conversations and never had a problem, and I would expect it to last a lot lot longer than that.  As I do more testing, Ill be sure to update this information.

Conclusion:

Overall the NoiseHush N700 Noise Canceling Bluetooth Headset worked extremely well and was very comfortable for long period of time. Using the headset for conference calls and long phone calls was very nice and I’ll miss this device once it gets handed out to some other lucky person. If you’re looking for a light weight over the head headset, you can’t go wrong with this device. Noisehush make some good products and I can’t wait to see what the surprise me with next.
