As most of us have expected an August release, there has been no definite date set. This release is following way too close to the Droid X and new and current Verizon customers eligible for an upgrade, should easily pick the Droid X over the Droid 2, that’s my opinion anyway. Well, we are catching wind that this device will drop August 23rd and that it might launch with Android 2.2 aka “Froyo.” The time frame sounds about right, as far as shipping with Android 2.2 partly because the original Droid is expected to receive it’s OTA before then and could coincide with the Droid X OTA update. Keep in mind rumors are rumors, so things could easily change.
