With Beats pretty much our of the picture HTC will be moving past its audio endeavor and being moving forward without Beats built-in. All of this is according to a HTC insider. According to them, HT will be moving away from pre-installing the software and be removing the logo and other related information from their future devices.
After all, Beats is just an equalization software that offers up better presets for their headphones. You can get that for free using Google Music, PowerAMP or any number of other free and paid apps on the Play Store. While we like that nifty little logo and the ‘choice’ of using it, HTC needs to cut its losses. They have been paying money to license the software and paying more money to include a bundled set of headphones for a better experience. All of that adds up to a higher costs and a higher price for consumers to pay out-of-pocket for some that many people don’t even use. It was almost kinda like bloatware for some.
On to more pressing matters though. The insider also makes mention that HTC will be bringing down their devices prices on current and upcoming devices. Hopefully this move will help increase sales and interest in HTC once again. HTC has had a fairly big string of bad luck lately and they really need to turn things around ASAP if the want to regain the foothold they once held. Here is to hoping that lower prices and less ‘additions’ will help them gain back some ground.
