A month ago, a small American carrier known as U.S.Cellular announced through Facebook that they will be carrying the Android powered phone known as the Samsung Acclaim, but they didn’t provide any image of the phone. Later, Engadget showed us an image claiming that it was the Samsung Acclaim, but unfortunately they were wrong. We then saw the real photo of the Samsung Acclaim during Google I/O with U.S.Cellular branding on it. After a long break, U.S.Cellular is now teasing their followers through Facebook saying:
It’s official! The Android-powered Samsung Acclaim is arriving in stores July 9, 2010! To show our appreciation to our Facebook fans we are giving current U.S. Cellular customers (only customers who established an account prior to 5/31/10 are eligible) a chance to win one of ten Samsung Acclaim phones. There’s only one… day left to enter, so visit our Offers tab for Official Rules and learn how to enter.
So there you are folks. No words on price, but finally we have a release date. The Samsung Acclaim comes with Android 2.1, 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen, a sliding QWERTY keyboard, and a lot of other features. It’s a mid-end device, so don’t expect a big price tag. Stay tuned with us, more information on specs and price will be out soon.
