A statement from Samsung has left us with a bitter taste in our mouth. Not to mention a splitting headache. I love how company’s and the Government are so good at telling you absolutely nothing in a statement. Take a look at this mind boggling wording below:
“In case a new version of Android operating system is publicly announced and released, Samsung will review the possibility of implementation of such new version to the existing Samsung products with Android operating system (“Updateâ€).  Such a review will be based on various factors including, without limitation, the overall effect of such Update to Samsung products, the system requirements, the structural limitations, and the level of cooperation from the component suppliers and the software licensors.  If Samsung decides to make the Update available to the users after such consideration, Samsung will use its efforts to develop such Update, which may be released to the users upon successful completion of such development.”
Are you as lost as I am? Having read this many many times, the only conclusion I can make is “No”. Samsung has managed to push out the largest global sales of a single device to date. They are topping the charts with the Galaxy tab with no end in sight. They are aiming to push the Galaxy S line to diamond status before the year is over, yet we still don’t have a Froyo update?
Now we move to their latest venture, the Samsung Nexus S. Simply put, it is nothing more then a Galaxy S. Sure they added an few little things, but not enough to differentiate it from what they currently are selling. We all know the hardware specs of both devices are almost identical. Why would they deny the Galaxy S line the joys of Gingerbread? Marketing is the only answer I can seem to find. There is no reason to update the Galaxy S line to Gingerbread if they can try and convince you to buy the Nexus S. There is more profit in forcing you to buy a new device then to move what they have out to the latest software version.
I am not so sure about you, but Samsung has failed in my book so far. I love my Samsung Vibrant, but if it wasn’t for the Android Community I would be right there with everyone else wondering why I bought one.
