The Swatch Touch Zero One is Swatch’s new smartwatch and it’s made for beach volleyball

When Swatch announced that it would be entering the smartwatch market, I don’t think any of us were expecting this. Swatch today announced the Swatch Touch Zero One, a new smartwatch that is built specifically for the rigours of beach volleyball – it tracks the power of your hits, the number of claps you make, and how many times you high-five other people. It also does more standard things for an activity tracker like count your steps and sync with your phone to correlate all of this information.

The Swatch Touch Zero One is an evolution of the Swatch Touch, and keeps the touch capabilities of its predecessor. It also boasts battery life of “months and months”, however this is probably achieved by not having more conventional smartwatch abilities like getting message notifications and the like. It’s a very niche product, and we wonder if this is really what Swatch was referring to when it announced it was entering the smartwatch arena, but we’ll keep an eye out for any more news down the track. Oh, and did we mention the Swatch Touch Zero One is waterproof?
