Toshiba Announces Android Smart Book

We already know that Toshiba has been a fan of Android and has been working hard to get Android in its devices. Thanks to Slash Gear, we can finally see Toshiba’s finishing touches on their ideas as they introduce us to the Toshiba AC100 MID. This smart book will be running NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 chipset making it 1080p HD capable and will have many applications preloaded like Opera Mini, Documents To Go, and Fring to name a few. This device will also be utilizing Toshiba’s own custom launcher. We can definitely see the start of something here with this Android-based smart book and can only wait to see what the future brings from Toshiba and other smart book manufacturers.

Features of the AC100 MID include:

  • 8GB of SSD storage
  • 10.1 inch screen
  • 1080p
  • 1024 x 600 non-touchscreen display
  • WiFi b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • USB 2.0
  • SD card reader port
  • Optional 3G/WWAN

While we await official pricing for this device, we can expect it to debut in August 2010 but until then, check out the promo below.
