Verizon Galaxy Nexus getting first official OTA, minor bug fixes and DivX support Removed

Either you are the proud owner of a new Galaxy Nexus, or you are waiting for yours to ship out to you, either way, there is an update already rolling out. It is mostly full of bug fixes for a few minor annoyances that some of you may have already found on your own. But at the same time, it does remove a feature that you may wish to keep.

The fixes include-

Device features

  • Optimized Mobile Hotspot when used with VPN.
  • Optimized 3G/4G data sessions for faster response times.
  • Fixed an incorrect notification that “data wasdisconnected due to roaming”.
  • Wi-Fi now automatically reconnects when returning to a known Access Point.
  • Improvements to special visual effects feature when using front-facing camcorder.
  • Visual improvements to the lock screen.

Email and Messaging

  • Fixed an issue where some email attachments would not open correctly.

Apps and Widgets

  • DivX support has been removed, and will be supported in a future upgrade.
  • Improved audio volume in Google navigation turn-by-turn directions.

All relatively minor resolutions to minor issues. What is not so great to see is that DivX support has been removed in this update. They say it will be supported in future updates but no time line on when that will happen. We aren’t sure if there was an issue with the DivX playback, or if there is some sort of licensing agreement issue. Either way, many of you movie buffs might not be to pleased to see the support taken away for now. It might just be enough to keep you from updating.
