Even though there appears to have been a huge amount of data confirming the Dec 9th date, it seems as though it might not be true after all. It won’t be until Verizon makes an official announcement that we will know for certain. According to The Droid Guy, and they follow things pretty closely, there are still device issues to work out. One of their Google Ninjas reported to them that the final binary for the device wasn’t playing nice with the 4G LTE network. If that is the case I am all for a later launch date. Google certainly has no intention of letting a branded device hit the market if the data connection is iffy.
I know the news that is floating around about it being delayed might irritate many of you, just try to remember that it was never made official in the first place. So, can anyone really call it a delay? Not really. It is still stated to be launched before the end of the year and Verizon will make that happen. They need it to happen to close out the 4th quarter strong. Even though I may have my personal issues with Verizon, holding the Galaxy Nexus official statement back until the device works as it should is to be commended. How many of you would be more upset having a device that didn’t work right or waiting to get it when it does.
Only time will tell at this point. I hope it lands on the 9th, but one more week to work out the kinks won’t kill anyone.
