WhatsApp flips the switch to let everyone use voice calling on Android

WhatsApp gave select users the ability to place voice calls with the app and today they are making it available for everyone. There are a few things you will need to keep in mind though. The voice call feature is only supported on WhatsApp version 2.12.5. Assuming you have that version of the app, then you should see a new tab in the app named Calls where you can initiate a phone call to anyone in your contact list. You can also simply press the dialer button you will find in the chat window.

In order for things to work out appropriately though, your contact needs to also be on the same version of the app, which went out about 2 weeks ago. Be sure to ping your friends and make sure they have the latest version installed before you try bowing up their phone with your calls. On a side note, this function is only currently available for Android, and slowly rolling out at that. However, those iOS friends we all have will be gaining the ability soon as confirmed WhatsApp founder, Brian Acton.
