Too little too late? Could be, however this is not stopping the imminent release of Samsung’s new Wi-Fi version of the 7″ Galaxy tab. We’ve seen a leaked image saying the new Tab would be surfacing in the states in early April for a price of $399. Amazon UK has the Wi-Fi specific device listed for £299.00 ($477) with an expected release of March 31st.
With Tegra 2 tablets roaming about like the XOOM, and gTablet, will this new availability make any difference for Samsung’s first tablet. You can pick up a gTablet for as little as $338 and it offers a bigger screen and a dual-core Tegra 2 processor. The only selling point the Galaxy Tab can hope to provide to the tablet scene is it’s size, and maybe not even that. Another competitor is lurking about, the Dell Streak 7 is also 7″ , and can be found of amazon with a Tegra 2 and a cellular radio for $449.
Not sure this is gonna work out in Samsung’s favor. Maybe a revamp of the existing 7″ tab is in order. Granted the development for the Tab is already present, however with the competitors bring so much to the table it’s hard to see why marketing would be wasted on old news.
