Word Lens is probably one of the cooler and more functional augmented reality apps I have personally seen. In a quick nut shell, it allows you to use your devices camera to translate written text from one language to the next. While it isn’t perfect and can sometime be a little dizzying, once you get the hang of using it works out pretty well. Beats asking someone what a sign or menu says.
With the Olympics getting underway with a huge amount of various spoken and written languages everywhere, Word Lens opted to make the additional language packets a little more affordable. Generally they are $4.99 each, but for a limited time you can snag them for $2.99 each. Not a bad deal, especially for all of you traveling around the globe right now. By the way, the sale also applies to the app itself being on sale for $2.99. Even if you aren’t at, or headed to the Olympics, now is a pretty great time to stock up for future travels.
