Yahoo acquires task management app Astrid

Yahoo continues to focus its efforts on mobile and PC technology with its recent acquisition of Astrid. Astrid is a personal task manager with automatic syncing across your devices, using reminders, subtasks, lists and widgets.

“When we set out to build Astrid, we sought to help as many people as possible become happier, healthier and more productive,” CEO Jon Paris wrote in a blog post. “We’re really excited to join the mobile team and continue this work with Yahoo!’s goal of ‘making the world’s daily habits more inspiring and entertaining.’”

Astrid claims they will continue to function normally over the next 90 days, but will no longer be accepting new premium subscriptions. Astrid’s 4 million users will eventually be instructed on how to download their data.

This is Yahoo’s latest purchase in a string of mobile acquisitions including Stamped, Jybe and Summly. The company recently incorporated Summly into its iOS and Android apps.
