This week has been unusually interesting, and MWC 2015 is still a month away. Yesterday, it was pretty much made official that Android 5.1 is going to be the next update to Android Lollipop after it was seen both on Google’s own Android One website and on actual Android One devices in Indonesia where they had just been launched. As it turns out, the leaks aren’t done yet as a 2nd gen Moto G with Android 5.1 has been spotted, albeit in a very dark room, though this is presumably to hide any markings on the device which might give away the leaker’s identity (Motorola testers are often given devices with special unique markings to make them less likely to leak, among other things).
There’s every possibility that this could be a doctored image, however with the appearance of Android 5.1 on Android One devices and considering that Motorola is generally on top of software updates, it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that Motorola is already testing the new update among its testers. We shouldn’t need to wait too long to see if this leak is true or not as updates will likely roll out sooner rather than later.
