Happy Valentine’s Day from Google, $6 movie credit handed out to Chromecast owners

If you happen to be one of the millions of Chromecast owners out there you are in for another treat from Google. Since the launch of the $35 streaming device we have seen a number of movies land for free for users in various locales. X-Men, Gravity and others among them. For Valentines Day this year you are being handed a $6 credit to pick your own movie though. While it won’t be enough to buy Big Hero 6 in HD, it will certainly let you She’s Out of My League thanks to a Valentines Day movie sale that is also underway at the moment. You could also grab the action and love story mixed classic, Top Gun, for $5.99 too. You can usually win brownie points for Dirty Dancing and Grease.

To get your hands on the $6 credit you will want to launch the Chromecast app on your phone or tablet. Alternatively you can access it from your laptop or PC so long as you have the extension installed so it can find your Chromecast device. If you go through the app on your device you will want to tap on your cast device, then the overflow menu and then Check for offers.

You will end up on the screen you see at the end. In my case I have 5 offers which include some free trials to some things, but also a $6 Google Play credit. While it says “Valentine’s Day movie rental”, you can buy a movie as well if it is under the credit balance. I am sure you could use in on apps or games if you would rather, but that defeats the purpose of the offer really.

I assume this particular offer may only be U.S. based, but I am not certain. What other locales are you seeing the offer in and what movie will you be picking up?
