Over here in the states, you will not really come across products made by Huawei. Overseas, Huawei has become quite popular which always had me wondering why they have not tried to tackle the American market.With that, we looks at the MediaPad Vogue 7.

What makes the MediaPad Vogue stand out right away when it comes to features, is the fact that it has phone call capabilities. If you are a fan of making calls from a 7 inch tablet, well then this tablet might be for you. I, on the other hand, would not make calls from my 7 inch tablet, and really did not try that feature out.

The second feature that will make the tablet stand out, is the Emotion UI that comes skinned over Android 4.1.2. Emotion UI comes equipped with over 20 themes to choose from, as well as profiles to be set throughout the day. Certain parts of the day you will probably want certain apps, widgets, and wallpaper to be displayed on your homescreens, so you are given the option to set these profiles. I will admit, setting widgets on the homescreens using Emotion UI is rather nice. With stock Android, you can only move one widget at a time, and with Emotion UI, you are able to fill your screens in one shot. Other than that, Emotion UI is not really all that great, and can be rather bloated, which bogs down the user experience.

One part of the Emotion UI I really liked the most, was the gallery widget. On your homescreen, you can place one of your photo albums, and it will slideshow with a flip like animation. Very sexy looking, and I will also mention that the weather app on the Vogue is pretty sexy as well. When you open the weather app, you get some gorgeous animations for whatever weather conditions are currently going on outside. Not only do you get then effects of that weather, but even a hum that welcomes you into the app. It is little things like that that make me happy.

The Good

I would say the MediaPad Vogue brings a new Android experience, that a lot of people would get a kick out of. The Emotion UI’s customizations do exceed some expectations, and to have the ability to make calls might be up some user’s alley.

The Bad

Definitely not for serious Android users. The UI does bog down the speed of the tablet like a said before, and that is just something us Android enthusiasts do not want to cope with.

Conclusion

Would not recommend this tablet over some of the other 7 inch tablets out there, simply because it just does not measure up. Although, if you have a friend or relative that is looking for a cheap tablet with some pretty nice customizations, then I would recommend suggesting the Vogue. Android enthusiasts will overlook this tablet for sure, but at least it has a few goodies within its core.
