Yelp updated its Android app today, which includes the addition of mobile reviews, a feature that showed up on iOS back in August. The Yelp team did some research for version 5.0 and found that many consumers have been leaving reviews for a wide variety of services, beyond restaurants and food choices. And now that Android users can leave reviews directly from their phone, contributions can be made by simply finding the business of choice and tapping “Add Review.”
While some may think the instantaneous reviews could result in knee-jerk “rants and raves,” Yelp  found that mobile reviews closely resemble those on the desktop site. Of the compiled reviews, 80% ended up being 3, 4, and 5 stars. In addition to the review section, version 5 also adds easily accessible business photos from the top of the screen and photos are now combined with accompanying reviews.
