When
Google acquired
WordLens, the app that translates text from one language to another simply by looking at it through your camera, we wondered when we might see some of this technology used in Google’s own Translate app. Well, it sounds like the wait may soon be over after Android Police got hold of information that says the nextÂ
Google Translate update will include
WordLens, and has a few screenshots to prove it. As you can see in the series of screenshots above, Translate is being used to live translate a menu.
What will also be new in this new Translate app is a new and improved conversation mode which should hopefully making speaking with people with other languages a little easier and eliminate awkward waiting between translations. Unfortunately, an APK for this build of Translate has not been made available, but we’d hope these new features come through soon.
