HTC devices are pretty notorious for being leaked early. They usually come from inside sources from material that is being prepared for a launch. Other times it comes from testers who snap some photos and send out details to others. When a new device gets quietly launched on an official channel, it really isn’t much of a surprise, other than the fact that it is now listed. That alone can be a bit of a surprise when HTC din’t make a formal announcement about it. In this instance we have the previously leaked HTC One E9+.
On HTC China, the HTC One E9+ gets the full-page treatment along with specs. The One E9+ packs a Mediatek 64bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, 3GB of RAM and 16GB on-board storage with micro SD card support. You will find a 20MP rear camera along with the Ultra Pixel front shooter, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1 and dual-band Wi-Fi. The device is powered by a 2800 mAh battery and the typical BoomSound front facing speakers.
All the details are being translated through Google, but it would seem that HTC is listing a few contradictions on the devices spec sheet vs what they have on the main page. On the main screen that shows off the details, it states the device offers a 5.5-inch ultra HD 2K display with a 534 PPI. However, the product specifications page says it is a 5.5-inch FHD 1080 x 1920 display. Same issue arises with the camera as the main page states a 20MP camera on the rear while the spec page says 13PM. Looking back at a previous leak from the TENAA, which is the FCC of China, they listed out the higher-end specs and offered images that match the One E9+, not the One E9 that it was previously thought to possibly be.
It still baffles me how this device didn’t end up becoming the One M9, unless HTC plans to pack these specs in the One M9+, minus the Mediatek processor of course.
