You may have the seen the article posted a couple of weeks ago from an Indian source claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S series of phones would be getting upgraded to Gingerbread.  Well, that tweet has since magically vanished from Twitter.  I may have been removed by Samsung themselves, which could indicate some truth to the rumor, or it could have simply been vicious rumor mongering, we’ll never really know.
Now, YouMobile is saying that they received independent confirmation that Gingerbread will be rolled out in February 2011 to a Galaxy S near you.
JOSEPHWS today posted the following information on YouMobile site:
Well, Today we Got a Confirmation That Samsung Galaxy S is Getting Another Update probably on February,2011 may be Earlier and this update will have Android 2.3 Gingerbread onboard
Without any REAL confirmation as to who the source of the information was, we can only take this as rumor, but with the release of the Google Nexus S and Google already dropping the AOSP source for Gingerbread, it’s not past the realm of possibility.  If it’s not done by Google / Samsung themselves pretty soon, you can rest assured that the community will.
