Finally, the much anticipated Slingplayer application is coming to the Android platform this summer. Â For those of you who have not heard of the Slingplayer, it is a device that connects to your cable/satellite receiver and redirects the signal over the internet and delivers it directly to your mobile phone or desktop computer. This technology has been around for a couple of years and was released about 9 months ago on the iPhone. Â It works well and you can even watch your on-demand channels. Â It’s as if you were sitting in front of your TV.
Slingplayer works on both wifi and 3G. Â The slingbox will run you around $200-250 depending on whether or not you want it in HD. There are no costs associated with redirecting the signal. Â Just the cost of the slingbox, your cable/satellite provider charges, and the cost to purchase the Android application.
