Google Plus for Android receives major update, new app design and much More

If you’ve been using Google+ for the past few months, there’s probably one thing about the Android app that has continuously been a thorn in your side — notifications. Since the launch of the app, this wonderful service and app have been plagued by a horrible notification system that seemed to only work when it wanted to — and it rarely wanted to. Today, the mobile incarnation of G+ received a pretty significant update. Included a handful of exciting new features and fixes. Hit the break for all the details on what I hope to be the update we’ve all been waiting for.

Today’s bump brings us to version (get ready for this) 2.1.0.216852. Included in this update are:

  • Completely new app and new visual design
  • Battery life improvements
  • Navigation and performance improvements
  • Significant notifications improvement (I’ll believe it when I see it)
  • Several Bug Fixes
  • Brand new posting UI
  • Support for Google Apps users
  • Ability to sign out
  • Add people to a circle from circle profiles

Whew! Did you get all that? Let’s hope there is some truth to that little tick about notification enhancements, eh? We’ve heard the same thing in previous updates, but obviously that didn’t work out so well. At any rate, Google+ is still my favorite social platform since the day I got my account when the service was still in beta. If you’d like to add me to your circles, feel free to do so. I look forward to seeing you all there!
