Verizon will kick on the high-speed service tomorrow in –
- Little Rock, Arkansas
- Rapid City, South Dakota
- San Antonio, Texas
- Cookeville, Tennessee (expanded)
That moves the total number of markets covered up to 196. According to Verizon, customers in the new markets as well as current markets can expect speeds ranging from 5 -12 Mbps down and 2 – 5 Mbps up. That is a pretty wide range of expected speeds. Faster is faster though, right?
AT&T lit up, well… just one. Tampa-St. Pete, Florida. Which isn’t much to get all that excited about. This announcement puts AT&T at a total of 20 markets. Wait, only 20? Ya, they are way behind Big Red. They must be spending more time defending their unlimited data stance instead of increasing speeds. Then again, what good would faster speeds be to unlimited customers, they would just hit the 2GB throttling point faster and that wouldn’t be good for anyone.
