It’s always nice to wake up to a package on your doorstep and this time it’s a small package from Trident. You all know Trident as they make some of the nicest cases you can get for your Android devices. They sent us one of the latest Trident Perseus Series cases for the Asus Transformer TF101.
Most of the Trident cases we’ve received previously have always been a dual layer solution with a silicon inside sleeve and then a hard shell outer case. This is not the case with the Perseus series case for the Transformer.
It would be nice to see an option working in the same fashion as their existing phone case line, but this a big device to protect and is an excellent start from Trident. Â Maybe they’ll have a hard shell option sometime in the future.
The Case arrived and very simple box with a transparent window in the front and the screen protector was tucked inside the case.  The box shows 9 different color combinations, but I could only find 8 on the Trident web site. The Orange color seemed to be missing. So you have the choice of Black, Blue, Green, Pink, White, Yellow, Purple and Red. the case they sent me is the Red version, which isn’t really my color but works great for the review.
The case is a single layer Impact-Resistant Silicone is a durable silicone case to protect the device from casual drops and also acts as an anti-skid pad. placing your device on almost any surface with the case installed and your device stays exactly where you placed it. This is a feature I like in any case for any device. There is nothing worse than trying to place your phone on your dashboard in your car and have it slide around while you’re driving.
The case also features raised ridges or Security Grooves as they call them, on both sides of the case for easy and secure gripping of the Transformer.
The package also includes a matt finish re-applicable Screen Protector to prevent scratches and marks, keeping the device in great condition. The screen protector is also has a non-sticky surface making it very easy to slide your finger across the screen.
Installation of incredibly simple. The flexible Silicone sleeve stretches and pulls around the tablet with ease and fits securely in place once it’s installed.
The screen protestor is also very simple to install but is also very difficult to get exactly aligned with the display. The screen protector is almost exactly the same size as the glass area on the front of the Transformer so alignment is critical to ensure a smooth and seamless fit. I would have preferred the screen protector to have been slightly small so you had some room for error. No matter how hard I tried, I always had a slightly raised edge somewhere on the screen protector around the area where the glass meets the bezel of the device. Although they do state the screen protector can be removed and replaced, I don’t like to do this as I’ve had previous experience with this type of protector and if you get any bending or finger marks underneath, it never quiet fits the same again.
The Trident Perseus series case for the Asus Transformer TF101 would have received a 5 out of 5 if I hadn’t struggled a little bit with the screen protector. Overall I’m very happy with the case and it’s staying on my Transformer for the foreseeable future.
List price is $24.99 and is well worth the money for the peace of mind it gives you. Â I did some quick searching to see if the case was available through any other Internet retailer, but nothing could be found at the time of writing this article.
You can find our more information and purchase one of these premium cases or cases for most other devices on the Tridenteer web site.
