Did Samsung abandon the 64GB Galaxy S III?

During the huge press event that many of you watched right along side of us, we heard of the 16GB, 32GB and at some point a 64GB model of the Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S III. The first two models are running ramped across the globe on various carriers and selling like hotcakes. Some of you might have been holding out for the unreleased 64GB model though. That is a huge amount of internal storage to have at your finger tips after all and what better way to one up every other S III adopter on the planet.

UK Retailer Expansys had a pre-order page up for this particular gem, and since has canceled them. A GSMArena reader stated his order couldn’t be processed be cause Samsung “has decided not to release the unit”.  As it sits right now, the 64GB model seems to be up in the air. It is possible that Samsung is gaining so much ground with the current two models that they aren’t getting a big enough response to a new 64GB model landing. Especially since you can drop a super inexpensive 32GB card into your 32GB model and have 64GB for much less.

We will keep our eyes open though and see if this was just a misunderstanding or just a change in release time frames.
