Samsung makes Galaxy Note 10.1 official, starts at $499

Happy August 15th! Not only is today mine and my wife’s three-year anniversary, but today is also the day that Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 10.1. Are any of us surprised? We had fully expected that to be the announcement. What we didn’t expect was Samsung to make the Note 10.1 available so quickly. The new 10-inch Note will be up for order starting tomorrow August 16th for $499.99 for the 16GB and $549 for the 32 GB version. Both are Wi-Fi only models of course.

AS expected, the Note 10.1 with be sporting the 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor and 2GB of RAM. You already know the internal memory options, but it also supports a micro SD card. Just like most of the Galaxy S III devices, the Note 10.1 also offers up 50GB of free storage through Dropbox for two years. It has the infamous pop-up play feature to watch movies while still being productive and sports Ice Cream Sandwich. No word on Jelly Bean, but we have heard that Samsung is working on that update currently for the Note 10.1 and the soon to be announced Note 2.

Samsung already has the 16GB model in deep grey up on their site, but of course you can’t order one until tomorrow. Anyone out there aiming to pick up this monster?

Below is a video of the announcement that took place just a little bit ago. We sadly forgot all about it until just a little bit ago. Sadly it isn’t available to watch just yet though. At least they were nice enough to post a thumbnail stating it will be up at 3PM EDT. So check back then.
