Cellular connected Nexus 7 Lollipop factory images now available from Google

At long last the cellular connected Nexus 7 tablets finally have their taste of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Google has finally uploaded the needed factory images for the LTE Nexus 7 and 2012 ‘Mobile’ Nexus 7 today. This should help you breathe a new lease of life into the aging tablets and give you something to play about with.

The image brings the Nexus 7 up to speed with Android 5.0.2 to be precise. Considering the same devices just got their Android 4.4.4 factory images in October, this is addition was a lot quicker. You will need to have an unlocked bootloader and ADB set-up in order to get the factory images installed to your tablet though. Generally a standard OTA update follows around the same time as the posting of the factory images, but we haven’t heard of, or seen any, floating about yet. If you are savvy and like to play about with the images, head over to the Google Developer page and grab the factory image.
