In news that will probably confuse the entire Android community, AndroidPolice have uncovered information that suggests, with quite conclusive evidence, that the next build of Android will likely be 4.3 and will still be named Jelly Bean. This information was uncovered apparently in some of Google‘s server logs, an excerpt of which is below:
As you can see, the log definitely shows the existence of Android 4.3, for the Nexus 7. It is thought that build is also going to be Jelly Bean (as opposed to Key Lime Pie) because the Build code starts with a J; the start letter of this code always signifies the first letter of the Android version’s name. So far, Jelly Bean 4.3 is only suspected to be on Nexus 4 and Nexus 7.
This definitely throws a spanner in the works for everyone expecting Key Lime Pie to be released at Google I/O; it’s long been thought that the Google X Phone would be launched at Google I/O with Key Lime Pie inside, but whether this new development implies that the Google X Phone won’t make a showing at Google I/O remains to be seen. For now it appears that the rumour that Key Lime Pie will be delayed is true.
I know I can’t help but feel a little disappointed, but with Google I/O barely a month away, Â it seems a certainty that our next Android build will be Jelly Bean 4.3. What do you make of this information? Let us know below.
