LG Joining the Android Fun with InTouch Max

LG said recently that it plans to have about half it’s phone lineup for 2010 running the Android platform. The first of their approximately ten upcoming Android phones was announced today and is headed to Virgin Mobile and T-Mobile in the UK. US customers will have to wait for an LG manufactured Android offering.

It does seem that this first foray into Android may not be the phone we’ve all been waiting for. The new phone, the LG GW620, is affectionately known as the InTouch Max. Despite multiple OS updates, the phone will launch running Android 1.5. Other features include a 5MP camera with flash and a 4x zoom, a 3″ touch screen and sliding qwerty keyboard.

While this may not be the Android phone to beat, it will at least come free on a contract.
