[POLL] Did Rovio step it up in Angry Birds Space?

With all the press, the media events and publicity stunts, I thought Angry Birds Space was going to be something so fantastic and unique that I just had to play it. In that respect, all their marketing worked out brilliantly. Now that we have all had a chance to sit down and waste a few more hours of our lives, what is the final verdict? Did they make the new Space edition that much different?

The new bird powers are rather interesting. The purple bird, which was once the yellow bird, took a few seconds to figure out. You have amazing aim with him and is a valuable asset. The ‘ice’ bird is pretty cool. When he hits targets they turn to ice and if you tap the screen he sort of turns into an ice bomb freezing the things around him. The graphics are really clean and brilliant. It doesn’t take long to get the hang of the various gravity’s that you will encounter. Like in past versions, you will find your self finding different ways to complete each level. Some are harder than others and many of them you may need to replay multiple times trying different approaches to win.

There is only one issue that in the game that bugs the crap out of me for some reason. In space, when something starts to move it never stops. There is no friction so things glide forever. Why is it that when you break something apart it slows down and stops. It should continue for ever and get out of my way. I am sure this is due to gaming complexities and having a true space physic would make the game either extremely easy or extremely difficult. It is the only aspect that drives me nuts on may levels where a planet or moons gravity isn’t present to stop objects.

So what’s the verdict? Is the new AB Space as addicting as when the series first launched? Do you think Rovio needs to move on and put their efforts into something completely new and get away from the birds and pigs? Hit the poll and then leave a comment below letting us know if your expectations were met or if Rovio failed.
