Scouts honour: Peter Chou says HTC is still working on its HTC smartwatch

For what seems like an eternity, we have known that a HTC smartwatch is being worked on behind the Taiwanese manufacturer’s closed doors. However, HTC has probably learned from just putting out devices that everyone else is churning out, and is really taking its smartwatch project very seriously. In an interview at MWC, HTC CEO Peter Chou has said that they are still working on the HTC smartwatch, however said “we try to be very careful instead of just putting out whatever, so we keep working on it.” Hard to argue with that.

We still don’t know anything about this device, not even what operating system it’s going to be using. And although HTC announced the HTC RE Grip, a fitness band developed in conjunction with Under Armor, it’s very difficult to gauge where HTC would go with its first real smartwatch, a device to do battle with the Moto 360 and Co. All we can do is wait, but hopefully HTC shows us something new sooner rather than later.

What do you think is going on with the HTC smartwatch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
