With the HTC Desire receiving Froyo love from other carriers, T-Mobile has been kind enough to keep their Desire users in the loop. T-Mobile UK previously volunteered a little information about the Android 2.2 for the Desire to come sometime in September and today they have stated via Twitter:
It looks like Froyo for the Desire is in the final stages as T-Mobile tells Tony here that the update is in the hands of Google for approval. We’re sure a roll out date will come soon. Our guess would be that T-Mobile might be pushing for September, but to be safe you can probably look for Froyo to hit your Desire in early October.
