We have all been waiting anxiously for the CyanogenMod team to deliver their version of Ice Cream Sandwich to our phones, and I know some of you are starting to get that itch like I am. It has been awhile since we have heard from the boys, but today they have finally given us an update on the progress of CM9.
On the CyanogenMod blog page, they write a nice little love letter to us fans of the team. In the blog they mention that, yes, it has been awhile since they have given us an update on CM9 and they apologize for it. They then go on and explain the complexities that surround ICS, such as the internal changes that require updated graphics drivers. These drivers are often closed-sourced, so they really cannot do much until a device or devkit is released with them. The camera is causing them some issues, as always with new OS ROMs, so there is that bug to work out as well.
Overall, going from Gingerbread to ICS is obviously a huge change, so it is definitely taking longer than expected. For the full letter from the team, click down below for the detailed summary on the progress of CM9. It is getting close Android friends. Just remember, NO ETA’s!
