Sky Go still a go for Android, bringing streaming TV to select Devices

Those of you living in the UK are fairly familiar with a network provider called Sky. They essentially are a satellite company that pipes TV into many homes. We now have an update to the highly anticipated Sky Go app that many of your iOS totting brethren have been throwing in your face. The popular iOS app that lets you watch TV anywhere at anytime is still making its way to Android. Its launch obviously missed the Christmas time frame they had hoped to do, but now the launch is back on for a February release.

Head of Sky Go, Holly Knill said - “We know how much Android users have been looking forward to the launch of Sky Go on Android smartphones, and we’ve done everything we can to make sure that our bespoke design is worth waiting for”.

Good news for those of you itching to be more portable with your tele programs. All good news has some slightly bad news attached to it though. The application will only be available for a select number of devices. The Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S II both made the grade, along with HTC’s Incredible S, Sensation, Desire HD, Desire S and Desire. They deem these as the “Most popular” handset currently. Funny how I don’t see the Nexus in there. On to more important matters, as a current Sky customer you get unlimited access to watch what ever you want. You can still install the app and get TV everywhere if your aren’t a Sky customer, but the individual price for streaming service to the app alone is a bit pricey if you ask us. They start at £15 ($23.64) a month and go to  £40 ($63) a month to access all channels.

It never hurts to have options. Be on the look out locally for announcements to when the app is finally available. Hopefully the extra time they took on the Android build will prove to be worth the wait time.
