Facebook has started testing out auto-play videos viewed in the News Feed on mobile. Like Vine, videos will start playing automatically when encountered. Videos are initially played silently, then when you tap to play, videos expand to full screen with sound or you can skip the video entirely by scrolling past.
Starting out, auto-play videos will only apply to personal Facebook accounts, verified Pages, musicians and bands, although Facebook notes they will “explore how to bring this to marketers in the future.”
As of right now, the videos are in limited testing phase, but will start showing up in coming weeks on mobile. What do you think about auto-playing videos on Facebook: convenient or a nuisance?
