The HTC One M9 Plus is another device from the Taiwanese manufacturer that hasn’t been kept hidden very well. There were a number of blurry cam images that floated around prior to the HTC One M9 announcement that offered up some details that really were a bit different. Most obvious was the finger print scanner, that looks similar to Samsung Galaxy devices  home button. It is placed just below the usual HTC logo that graces the bottom of the front glass and has speaker grills on both sides.
HTC didn’t announce this percarious looking device along side the One M9 in Barcelona as many of us had hopped. However, it would appear that an impending announcement is scheduled for April 8th in Bejing, China.
According to people who know on the inside, the HTC One M9 Plus sports a 5.5-inch (2560×1440) QHD display, Mediatek MT6795 64-bit octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, BoomSound, a fingerprint sensor and Duo Camera. Unlike the DUo Camera on the M8, the One M9 Plus changes out the Ultra pixel setup for a 20MP camera instead.
All of those specs lineup with another HTC devices, minus the fingerprint sensor, the HTC One E9. Which is also an unofficial device currently. Maybe HTC will showcase both devices in April.
Being that the announcement is slated in China and the processor is the lessor known, and used, in the states MediaTek, it is probably safe to assume that this particular device won’t see the light of day on any networks in the US. That isn’t to say a Qualcomm variant of some sort might not come eventually. Sprint does carry the HTC One E8, although that particular device did use a Qualcomm chip globally.
What seems a bit odd to me is that the HTC One M9 is supposed to be the flag-ship for HTC, yet both the One E8 and One M9 Plus all pack bigger and better screens at the sacrifice for a MediaTek processor.
