Gmail, Street View and Google Play Books updates Available

Not every new app update is created and made equally. Some of the more recent updates have been specifically for Android 4.0 users who are either on a supported device or custom ROM. Many of the features that were included in those updates didn’t work else where. Now Google has released another series of updates for three of their services, Street View, Gmail and Google Books, or Play Books. Targeting a variety of users.

The Gmail update will offer the Honeycomb users swiping navigation that ICS users have grown to love. It also includes –

1. Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) users get the Android Gmail 4.0 (ICS) experience with:
2. Swipe to move between newer and older conversations
3. Tap your account to access Recent labels
4. Set custom notifications for individual labels
5. Sync last 30 days of messages so you can read and search messages faster both online and offline.
6. Android 2.2 (Froyo) and 2.3 (Gingerbread) users get:
7. New Labels API for 3rd-party app developers
8. Performance improvements

Pretty healthy list of new features. As for the Play Books update, looks like Froyo 2.2 and Gingerbread 2.3 users will get a new UI with 3d page-turn animations. They included a new home screen short cut for single books too.

Street View received an added action bar for Android 4.0 users and is now available in South Korea and Russia.
