8GB Nook Tablet gets unveiled and Priced

Yesterday we let you guys know that Barnes & Noble planned to drop an 8GB model of their Nook tablet to market tomorrow. Well, today they have made the announcement official. B&N was looking to capture some market share back from the Kindle Fire. The Fire sales took off over the holidays not only because of the Amazon connection and access to premium services, but also because it was $50 less than the Nook. B&N decided it would be a good time to kick the tablet down a little and bring the price within range of the Fire. So they took out some internal memory and dropped it to 8GB. To help ease the pain and the price tag, they also lowered the RAM to 515MBs. Which lines up with the Kindle Fire specs nearly toe-to-toe. The only real difference now being the addition of an SD card slot that the Fire lacks.

The Nook tablet does have its appeal points. With a second tablet choice out there with a competitive price point, it all comes down to memory card and style. Both are rootable and hackable, so that leaves customization out-of-the-way.

If you have two bones to drop, which one appeals to you more?
