Android 3.2 updated headed to Toshiba Thrive

What a week we have all had already and it is only Tuesday. To add to the list of things that are changing, the Toshiba Thrive is now getting a much-needed update. The update moves the tablet to Android 3.2 that was promised last month. Better late than never right guys? You will be looking for build number 3.2.1.31.5.0002 and it brings in quite a few major changes that the Thrive really needed.

• Enables an improved compatibility mode enhancing the way applications originally designed for smaller screen devices appear and function on the larger tablet display.
• Improves screen rotation acceleration.
• Adds extended screen support API, giving developers more precise control over the user interface across a range of Android-powered devices.

But, and there is almost always a BUT when it comes to updates from the manufacturers. There is a fairly good chance that the update may break and block the root method that was provided a while back. If you are not rooted and don’t really care, then update away. If you are like the rest of us, we would say hold off on this one for a while and check in with your favorite Thrive forum for a rooted version of the update. You know the devs will jump in and fix the OEM’s silly mistakes. They always do.
