Android Bumps iPhone Down Three Places in UK Comparison Says uSwitch

According to statistics based on live searches and sales for February, comparison website uSwitch has declared that Android devices have knocked the iPhone down 3 places and out of the top 5 to number 6 in the UK market. While this run to the top was mainly led by HTC with their Desire, Desire HD, and Wildfire phones, there are still some other honorable mentions. Trailing behind those 3 are the Blackberry Curve 8520 which makes up the 4th slot, the Samsung Galaxy S comes in at number 5, and the Motorola Defy comes in the 7th slot just behind the iPhone. What all this means is half of the most popular phones in the UK are running the Android operating system, so it would seem as it’s already been said, Android is indeed rising.

“The competition is taking a huge bite out of Apple’s market.”

On top of that, the fact that some Android devices are being offered for free under upgrade and contract promotions by select carriers means that Apple is going to seem far less appealing seeing as they don’t offer such promotions for their device.

“A free handset is a much more attractive proposition than shelling out for one – especially at iPhone prices.”
