Android Keeps Growing. Reaching 700,000 Activations a Day!

Lets face facts. Google is taking over the world. I remember when Apple released the iPhone and everyone thought Apple was pretty much going to dominate. Then in came the boy who started it all the G1. Since that bulky phone with the physical keyboard I loved so much dropped, Google was ready to tackle the phone market. After the Motorola Droid came shortly after, Apple started to sweat.

Google’s own Senior Vice President of Mobile Andy Rubin confirmed that over 500,000 Android devices were being activated back in June, and with the Galaxy Nexus finally getting out in the wild, the number increased to 550,000 a day. In just over a month, that number has climbed to a whopping 700,000 per day. Any Rubin posted on his Google Plus page the following:
For those wondering, we count each device only once (i.e., we don’t count re-sold devices), and “activations” means you go into a store, buy a device [and] put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service.
Well said sir…well said. Pretty much a butt load of Android devices are being put in the hands of die-hard Android lovers and people who do not really understand Android they just like the pretty wallpaper it came with. I am sure after the holidays that number will climb once again. Anyone want to buy me a Galaxy Nexus for Christmas?
