Anomaly 2 Benchmark App Reveals Interesting Results

anomaly 2 benchmarkYou may recall in September that 11 bit studios, developer of the hit game Anomaly Warzone Earth, released a benchmark app ahead of the release of their new follow-up game, Anomaly 2 (which is out now and available for $4.99 HERE). The purpose of the app was not only to see how adequate (or inadequate) your Android device was at handling the game‘s amazing graphics, but also to help 11 bit studios optimize its graphics for Android devices of all shapes and capabilities. 11bitstudios has today released the findings from its Anomaly 2 benchmark app, and the results may surprise you.

First and foremost, 11 bit studios was able to increase the minimum optimization level for Android devices, which was a score of 48.1% when the app first launched, to a much more respectable level of 67.7%, meaning that it would likely be able to run moderately well even on lower-spec devices.

The next most interesting news to come out of this benchmarking exercise is that the device that Anomaly 2 is optimized for is in fact the Samsung Galaxy S4, not the Galaxy Note 3, the Sony Xperia Z1, or the LG G2, though those devices do also feature in the top 10. While it might be surprising to see the S4 at the top of the list (at 100% optimized!), it’s more likely a combination of the fact that the S4 has been out for the better part of 8 months and also the great job that 11 bit studios has done in optimizing the game for all high-performance devices. To see what other devices feature in the top 10, check out the infographic below:

Press Release:

11 bit studios – Anomaly 2 benchmmark returns

Warsaw, Poland – 12/09/2013 – Back in September 2013, we published an Anomaly 2 benchmark for Android devices to check which tablets and smartphones work best with the critically-acclaimed title. We promised to deliver PC graphics to mobile devices and we did.

In December, three months after publishing the benchmark app and after a few updates, we wanted to see which mobile devices work best with the fully optimized version of Anomaly 2. The results of our research are interesting.

Samsung Galaxy S4 is still the best mobile device using Android and a beast in terms of performance. Number two on the updated list is Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and third place belongs to Sony Xperia Z1. NVIDIA SHIELD’s performance has drastically improved making it one of the best Android devices on the market.

Overall, through our updates and game optimization, we have been able to drastically improve the performance of our game on any Android device. Currently, the worst score is 67.7% whereas back in September it was 48.1%.
