AT&T announces Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 for October 24th

Hey look! Another Samsung device! The less lustrous Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 that launched last summer seems to have been successful enough for Samsung to put in some leg work on creating a follow-up, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2.

The 2014 Mega 2 appears to take some design elements from the Galaxy Note line with that stitched back plate while keeping some of the original Galaxy Mega. As for specs, AT&T was pretty hush hush on the subject. More so pointing out that it has a 8MP camera with 4X digital zoom and a 2,800 mAh battery pushing a quad-core processor on a 6-inch “high-definition” screen. The video below shows some the functions off, like one-handed mode, Dual-Instance (multi-wuindow), interruption free experience and private mode to secure files separately from the device.

Cruising around the web the consensus is stating the screen will be 720p, or 1280 x 720. The processor for the stateside version of this is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 clocked at 1.2GHz and bringing 1.5GB of RAM. It will come with 16GB on-board storage and the usual SD card slot option. While not specifically confirmed from AT&T, it is pretty safe to assume those are correct.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 will be available via AT&T on October 24th. It will retail for $149.99 on a new two-year contract or $474.99 without a contract. That puts the device at $19.80 a month on Next 18 and $23.75 a month on Next 12.
